Aimée mixes Maltese, Scottish and Libyan blood. She grew in remote NSW hills, singing to cattle, getting lost in the bush and riding her horse across the gullies to her grandparents' - where she would sing in their madrigals choir and learn to play piano.
Aimée now calls Wangal land home - western Sydney. She misses the wild. Her voice grew out of those hills and now, you can almost taste the yearning and longing for that home in her voice.
Aimée's music has been described as dark, moody, religious and cinematic with a voice like a melancholic Bjork or Kate Bush.
Aimée is wildly creative. Along with her music she is also a visual artist, designer, writer, actor. She has worked across disciplines in film and theatre - she has drawn live while she sings, created set designs, costumes, art installations, composed, acted, directed - sometimes one at a time, sometimes all at once. Music will always be her home, her first love.
She was raised by the bush, a misanthrope and a space alien and now that Aimée has made some small humans with her body she is learning many things.
Aimée has released music in the past under the moniker Kurinji with her long-time collaborator S. Shakthidharan.
Aimée was co-composer, singer and performer in 宿 (stay) at Sydney Festival 2022. She composed for Juxta EARTH interactive installation as part of the Bankstown Biennale and online (2022). She was composer and sound designer for NTofP’s Nothing (2022). She composed and performed the soundtrack for UTP and Sweatshop’s Sex, Drugs and Pork Rolls for Sydney Festival 2021. She was also the co-composer and lead musical performer for When The Tide Comes In (2016), a series of audiovisual performances at Carriageworks, Riverside Theatres and then online; Rizzy’s 18th Birthday at Carriageworks, which was adapted into feature film Riz that premiered at Sydney International Film Festival (2015); and outdoor live art work The Other Journey at Parramasala Festival and Ten Days on the Island Festival in Tasmania (2013). In the latter three works she was also the production designer and visual artist.
